Mentor Corp. - Ob Tape

Ob Tape is used by urologists and gynecologists as treatment for female stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence occurs when the pelvic muscles supporting the bladder and urethra are weakened, resulting in loss of bladder control. It is estimated that more than 14 million women worldwide are affected by this condition.

The United States Food and Drug Administration issued a MedWatch Alert on October 20, 2008 concerning surgical mesh vaginal slings, including Ob Tape. This alert reports of infection, vaginal tissue erosion, perforation, and loss of bladder control from these devices over a three year time period. Also included in this alert is a list of recommendations for physicians who have implanted these slings, or who are treating patients with these products. Patients with complications from Ob Tape may need additional surgery that might not correct the problem.

Ob Tape was removed from the market in 2006. If you or a loved one have been affected by Ob Tape, or you are just seeking more information, please fill out the form below. There are statutes of limitations governing these claims, and you should act promptly to protect your rights.
